How is remediation work read differently?

Remediation work is read differently from ordinary coursework, and understanding that changes how you write it. The faculty member reviewing this document already has an evaluation saying a competency was not being met, and what they are looking for is evidence that the gap has closed. That means the three summaries should be written in the first person and anchored to your own capstone intervention and your own clinical setting rather than to nursing in general. An impersonal submission reads as compliance and tends to be sent back; the same content written as this is my project, this is the tool I applied, this is what I will do differently reads as improvement. The word remediation makes people defensive, and defensiveness usually shows up as abstraction, so the practical advice is to name the thing that went wrong in one sentence and then spend the rest of the document showing the correction rather than the regret.

The first activity names a specific resource, so use it rather than generic research literature. Select two items from the American Nurses Association Research Tool Kit and, for each, say what the tool is, what it helps a nurse do, and how you would apply it to your own evidence-based intervention. The instruction is explicit that the summary connects to your intervention, so a paragraph about the value of research in nursing will not satisfy it. Five hundred words across two tools is roughly two hundred and fifty each, which is enough for a short description and a concrete application and nothing more, so decide the application first and let the description serve it. If you cannot say what the tool changes about how you will read or appraise the evidence for your intervention, you have chosen the wrong tool and should pick another one before writing a word.

The collaboration activity turns on the word who. After reading the assigned article, name the disciplines and roles you will actually engage — the unit manager, the pharmacist, the informatics nurse, the social worker, the physician lead, the educator — and for each say what they contribute to your intervention and what you need from them. Vague statements about working with the interdisciplinary team miss the point of the exercise. The leadership reflection then asks for three of the ten servant leadership principles, so name the three, apply each to a situation in your own clinical setting, and support the reflection with two peer-reviewed references as required. Listening, empathy, healing, awareness, persuasion, foresight, stewardship and building community are among the ten; pick the three you can evidence with something you have actually done or will do on the unit, because an abstract account of a principle is exactly the kind of writing that triggered the remediation in the first place.

Students who are not making appropriate progress on their capstone project and receive an \”Unacceptable\” or \”Below Expectations\” on the CET will be required to complete remediation activities. Required remediation activities are listed on the \”NRS-493: Clinical Experience Remediation\” document. The required activities must be submitted in LoudCloud upon their completion by the end of Topic 7. All required remediation activities will be reviewed and approved by the faculty.
