Two distinct tasks sit inside this assignment and they are assessed differently. The first is titration, where the underlying relationship is that at the equivalence point the moles of acid equal the moles of base, adjusted for stoichiometry: the concentration times the volume of one, times the mole ratio, equals the concentration times the volume of the other. Everything the worksheet asks follows from that. Two habits prevent most of the errors. Convert millilitres to litres before anything else so the units work, and read the buret correctly — burets are graduated downward, so the volume delivered is the final reading minus the initial reading, and reversing that gives a negative or nonsensical answer that is easy to miss. Report to the correct number of significant figures, which for buret readings usually means two decimal places, and carry more digits through the intermediate steps than you report.
The second task has an audience, and the framing memo tells you what it is: a school Facebook post meant to share something interesting about chemistry. Filling in the household acids and bases chart is straightforward — vinegar and citrus for acetic and citric acid, ammonia and baking soda and drain cleaner on the basic side, with their approximate pH values — but doing it well means writing entries a non-chemist would find interesting rather than entries that would satisfy a grader. Approximate pH values are worth checking rather than recalling, since several household items sit closer to neutral than people expect. And there is a safety point worth including for a public audience: mixing household acids and bases, particularly bleach with ammonia or with acidic cleaners, produces toxic gas, and a post about acids and bases that omits that has missed the one piece of chemistry its readers most need.

Use a standard 10 to 12 point (10 to 12 characters per inch) typeface. Smaller or compressed type and papers with small margins or single-spacing are hard to read. It is better to let your essay run over the recommended number of pages than to try to compress it into fewer pages. Likewise, large type, large margins, large indentations, triple-spacing, increased leading (space between lines), increased kerning (space between letters), and any other such attempts at “padding” to increase the length of a paper are unacceptable, wasteful of trees, and will not fool your professor. The paper must be neatly formatted, double-spaced with a one-inch margin on the top, bottom, and sides of each page. When submitting hard copy, be sure to use white paper and print out using dark ink. If it is hard to read your essay, it will also be hard to follow your argument.
