Two claims, one name, different evidence
The assignment asks you to discuss the overall value of learning styles. That is an invitation to evaluate, and almost every paper submitted to it declines.
Read the four numbered requirements and notice how they divide. The first two are descriptive: report what the questionnaire gave you, describe your own strategies, compare the two. Nothing is at stake and nothing can go wrong. The third and fourth ask what learning styles do — how they affect a learner's understanding and performance, why identifying them matters to an educator, and how they affect the possibility of behavioural change in health promotion. Those are empirical claims, and the phrase discuss the overall value sitting above them is the marker telling you that an assessment is wanted. A paper that answers three and four by asserting that matching teaching to style improves outcomes has made a claim it did not check, and has done so in the one section where the prompt was explicitly asking to see judgement rather than compliance.
The claim needs splitting in two, because two quite different propositions travel under the same name and only one of them is contested. The first is that people have preferences about how material is presented. That is uncontroversial, it is what the questionnaire measures, and your own result is evidence of it. The second — usually called the meshing hypothesis — is that matching instruction to a learner's preferred modality produces better learning outcomes. Those are not the same claim, and conflating them is what makes most papers on this topic unfalsifiable: they demonstrate the first and conclude the second. Your questionnaire result is real data about your preferences and no data at all about whether teaching to those preferences would help you, and keeping those two sentences apart is most of the intellectual work this assignment contains.
The evidence on the second is specific enough to state rather than gesture at. A review in Psychological Science in the Public Interest set out what testing the meshing hypothesis actually requires: divide learners by style, randomly assign them to different instructional methods, give everyone the same final test, and show a crossover interaction — the method that works best for one style group must be a different method from the one that works best for another. The authors reported that very few studies had used a methodology capable of testing this at all, and that several of those which did found results that flatly contradict the hypothesis. Their conclusion is quotable and unambiguous: there is no adequate evidence base to justify incorporating learning-styles assessments into general educational practice, and that limited educational resources would be better spent on practices with a strong evidence base.

The fourth requirement is where this matters most, because it asks how learning styles affect the possibility of behavioural change in health promotion — the meshing hypothesis applied to an even harder outcome than classroom learning. A paper can answer that requirement substantively without asserting something unsupported, and this is the move that separates it from the rest of the class. What does have an evidence base in patient education is health literacy: plain language, confirming understanding by teach-back rather than by asking whether the patient understood, attention to numeracy when risks are being communicated, working in the patient's own language, and building self-efficacy so the person believes the change is achievable. Those are tailoring, and they are not modality matching. Accommodating a learner along dimensions that demonstrably affect comprehension is a better answer to the accommodation question than sorting an audience into four categories, and it is an answer the marker can check against a literature.
So the shape of a strong paper is: comply fully with requirements one and two, since they cost nothing and are marked on completeness; separate the two claims explicitly in requirement three; and answer requirement four by naming what actually predicts behaviour change while explaining why modality matching is the weaker candidate. That is not refusing the assignment. It is answering the question the assignment asked — the overall value of learning styles — with a defensible position rather than an endorsement, and it leaves you with something to say that three hundred other papers on the same prompt will not have. The risk of the position is small, because the prompt asked for the value of learning styles and a value can be low; the risk of the endorsement is that it asserts as fact something a marker who reads the literature knows is contested.
There is a fair version of the positive case and it should be included, because a paper that only debunks has also stopped short. Completing the questionnaire and reflecting on the result is a structured prompt to think about how you study, and the exercise's own fifth step asks how awareness of learning styles has influenced your perceptions of teaching and learning — awareness, not matching. A reflective instrument can be useful without its underlying causal claim being true, and saying so precisely is more sophisticated than either endorsing or dismissing the whole thing. Educators identifying preferences may also gain something real: the act of asking signals attention to the learner, and varying presentation benefits everyone regardless of whether it benefits particular people particularly. That last distinction is worth spelling out, because it is the one that lets a paper recommend varied teaching without endorsing the matching claim, and it resolves what would otherwise look like a contradiction between the paper's two halves.
One writing point, because the prompt raises it directly and its own suggestions make things worse. You are told to limit first person, and offered the writer of this paper found and according to the findings of this author as workarounds. Third-person self-reference reads worse than the pronoun it replaces. The cleaner solution is to make the instrument or the result the subject of the sentence: the VARK questionnaire returned a strong visual and kinesthetic preference, with lower scores for aural and read/write. No pronoun, no contortion, and the sentence is shorter. The same move works throughout: results show, the comparison reveals, the exercise suggests -- each keeps the paper in the register the instructor asked for without the awkwardness the suggested alternatives introduce. It is also worth noting that a reflective assignment cannot be written entirely without a first person, so limiting is the instruction rather than eliminating.
Comply with the descriptive half, split the claim in the analytic half, and answer the health promotion question with the tailoring that has evidence behind it.
