NUR 590 Topic 2 DQ 1: implementation issues and stakeholders

The prompt names three framework types in brackets. That parenthesis is a specification, and picking a model without saying which type it is or what it would change is where most posts stop short.

Three named things, and frameworks is the demanding one

Foreseeing implementation issues is easy to do badly, because the generic answers — resistance to change, time constraints, resource limitations — are true of every project and therefore say nothing about yours. Be specific to your setting. Who has to do something differently, and what are they doing instead? What competes for the same fifteen minutes? Which system must change, and who controls it? An issue named at that level is one a classmate can respond to usefully, and it is also one you can actually plan around. Read the word foresee literally too. It asks what you expect before the fact, which is a prediction rather than a report, and predictions can be wrong in ways that are useful — a stated expectation gives you something to check against later, and being wrong about which obstacle mattered is a finding your project can report. Vague issues cannot be wrong, which is part of why they get chosen.

The stakeholder question asks specifically who could support you, so think in terms of what each person controls rather than who is senior. Someone controls access to the site, someone controls the schedule the intervention has to fit into, someone controls the data you need, and someone is respected enough that their visible participation changes what colleagues think. Those are four different kinds of support and they are rarely the same person. Then the frameworks, where the prompt's parenthesis is doing real work: it names organisational change, leadership and role-specific models as three types, which is an instruction to say which type you need. The test for any framework is whether it changes what you would do — an implementation framework that directs you to assess readiness before designing produces a readiness assessment, and if naming your model produces no new activity, it is decoration.

Likely learning objectives

Inferred from the brief — check these against your own rubric.

  • 01
State implementation issues specific to a setting rather than generic ones.
  • 02
Map stakeholders by what they control rather than by seniority.
  • 03
Select a framework by type according to the problem.
  • 04
Test a framework by whether it changes what you would do.

NUR 590 Topic 2 DQ 1 Do you foresee any issues with implementation of your project? Identify stakeholders who could assist in supporting you, and any theoretical frameworks (organizational change, leadership, role-specific) or models that could help you adapt. Do you foresee any issues with implementation of your project? Identify stakeholders who could assist in supporting you, and any theoretical frameworks (organizational change, leadership, role-specific) or models that could help you adapt. In order to formulate your evidence-based practice (EBP), you need to assess your organization. In this assignment, you will be responsible for setting the stage for EBP. This assignment is conducted in two parts: an organizational cultural and readiness assessment and the proposal/problem statement and literature review, which you completed in NUR-550. Section A: Organizational Culture and Readiness Assessment It is essential to understand the culture of the organization in order to begin assessing its readiness for EBP implementation. Select an appropriate organizational culture survey tool and use this instrument to assess the organization readiness. 1. Develop an analysis of 250 words from the results of the survey, addressing your organization readiness level, possible project barriers and facilitators, and how to integrate clinical inquiry, providing strategies that strengthen the organization weaker areas. 2. Make sure to include the rationale for the survey category scores that were significantly high and low, incorporating details or examples. Explain how to integrate clinical inquiry into the organization. 3. Submit a summary of your results. The actual survey results do not need to be included. Section B: Proposal/Problem Statement and Literature Review In NUR-550, you developed a PICOT statement and literature review for a population quality initiative. In 500-750 words, include the following: 1. Refine your PICOT into a proposal or problem statement. 2. Provide a summary of the research you conducted to support your PICOT, including subjects, methods, key findings, and limitations. General Guidelines: You are required to cite three to five sources to complete this assignment. Sources must be published within the last 5 years and appropriate for the assignment criteria and nursing content. Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required. This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion. You are required to submit this assignment to LopesWrite. Please refer to the directions in the student Success Center. Note: After submitting the assignment, you will receive feedback from the instructor. Use this feedback to make revisions for your final paper submission. This will be a continuous process throughout the course for each section. NUR 590 Topic 2 DQ 1
Course-wide instructions that accompany this question

ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE CLASS Discussion Questions (DQ) Initial responses to the DQ should address all components of the questions asked, include a minimum of one scholarly source, and be at least 250 words. Successful responses are substantive (i.e., add something new to the discussion, engage others in the discussion, well-developed idea) and include at least one scholarly source. One or two sentence responses, simple statements of agreement or “good post,” and responses that are off-topic will not count as substantive. Substantive responses should be at least 150 words. I encourage you to incorporate the readings from the week (as applicable) into your responses. Weekly Participation Your initial responses to the mandatory DQ do not count toward participation and are graded separately. In addition to the DQ responses, you must post at least one reply to peers (or me) on three separate days, for a total of three replies. Participation posts do not require a scholarly source/citation (unless you cite someone else’s work). Part of your weekly participation includes viewing the weekly announcement and attesting to watching it in the comments. These announcements are made to ensure you understand everything that is due during the week. APA Format and Writing Quality Familiarize yourself with APA format and practice using it correctly. It is used for most writing assignments for your degree. Visit the Writing Center in the Student Success Center, under the Resources tab in LoudCloud for APA paper templates, citation examples, tips, etc. Points will be deducted for poor use of APA format or absence of APA format (if required). Cite all sources of information! When in doubt, cite the source. Paraphrasing also requires a citation. I highly recommend using the APA Publication Manual, 6th edition. Use of Direct Quotes I discourage overutilization of direct quotes in DQs and assignments at the Masters’ level and deduct points accordingly. As Masters’ level students, it is important that you be able to critically analyze and interpret information from journal articles and other resources. Simply restating someone else’s words does not demonstrate an understanding of the content or critical analysis of the content. It is best to paraphrase content and cite your source. LopesWrite Policy For assignments that need to be submitted to LopesWrite, please be sure you have received your report and Similarity Index (SI) percentage BEFORE you do a “final submit” to me. Once you have received your report, please review it. This report will show you grammatical, punctuation, and spelling errors that can easily be fixed. Take the extra few minutes to review instead of getting counted off for these mistakes. Review your similarities. Did you forget to cite something? Did you not paraphrase well enough? Is your paper made up of someone else’s thoughts more than your own? Visit the Writing Center in the Student Success Center, under the Resources tab in LoudCloud for tips on improving your paper and SI score. Late Policy The university’s policy on late assignments is 10% penalty PER DAY LATE. This also applies to late DQ replies. Please communicate with me if you anticipate having to submit an assignment late. I am happy to be flexible, with advance notice. We may be able to work out an extension based on extenuating circumstances. If you do not communicate with me before submitting an assignment late, the GCU late policy will be in effect. I do not accept assignments that are two or more weeks late unless we have worked out an extension. As per policy, no assignments are accepted after the last day of class. Any assignment submitted after midnight on the last day of class will not be accepted for grading. Communication Communication is so very important. There are multiple ways to communicate with me: Questions to Instructor Forum: This is a great place to ask course content or assignment questions. If you have a question, there is a good chance one of your peers does as well. This is a public forum for the class. Individual Forum: This is a private forum to ask me questions or send me messages. This will be checked at least once every 24 hours. Review before submission

Common mistakes

  • Naming resistance to change and time as the issues.
  • Listing stakeholders by seniority rather than by control.
  • Naming a framework with no consequence for the plan.
  • Ignoring the prompt's typology of framework types.

Submission checklist

  • Could your issues apply to any project, or only yours?
  • Does each stakeholder control something you need?
  • Have you said which type your framework is?
  • Does the framework produce an activity you would not otherwise do?
