Informed consent

The word rights narrows this: not what could go wrong with genomic medicine, but what specifically undermines a client's capacity to decide for themselves and act on the decision.

For a psychiatric evaluation in which the patient states a plan to kill his wife and himself tonight and has a gun in his car, discuss informed consent, whether he meets involuntary commitment criteria in your state, whether to warn his wife, what resources to involve, and his suicide risk profile.

A one to two page summary identifying the circumstances in which a patient should never sign a consent form, explaining why a medical administrator should never enforce a form signed in those circumstances, and describing the follow-up the administrator is responsible for.
